Prostate Cancer Evening Support Group
January 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Our Prostate Cancer Support Group dinner meeting will be held on the Third Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:30PM. This casual conversational event will help those of you that are looking for answers from a group of men that have been in your shoes and understand what you are experiencing right now. This team have all had different treatments, understand the doubts and concerns, and can share with you the results that they have had.
Dr. Turkbey obtained his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey in 2003. He completed his residency in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Hacettepe University. He joined Molecular Imaging Program, National Cancer Institute, NIH in 2007. His main research areas are imaging of prostate cancer (multiparametric MRI, PET CT), prostate biopsy techniques, focal therapy for prostate cancer and image processing (segmentation, decision support systems). You don’t want to miss this as Dr. Turkbey has some surprising things to say about the accuracy of MRI/US Fusion guided biopsies.
Also, it is noted that Prostate Cancer Treatment Can Lead to Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life Issues in up to 30% of men. To start the new year off we will have Brother, Brady Radford lead us in a discussion on spotting the signs of anxiety and depression and what we can do to move forward and maintain quality of life.
You can arrive a little early if you want to chat and get to know a new group of friends. The meeting is at the Piedmont West building on the corner of Howell Mill Road and I-75 on the 7th Floor, directions attached. If the doors are locked when you arrive, come to the side door next to the main front entrance and knock, the security guard will let you in.
Carolyn Helmer, the Director of the Chapman Cancer Wellness Center has graciously offered to provide dinner for our meetings.
